A finite group G is called almost simple if for some nonabelian simple group S. A factorization of an almost simple group G is an expression G=AB, where A,B are subgroups of G which do not contain the minimal normal subgroup of G. Classifying factorizations of almost simple groups is a fundamental problem in simple group theory. I will present a classification of factorizations of finite almost simple groups whose one factor is solvable. Then I will explain its applications in the study of Cayley graphs.
