We talk about the extremal problem for the Strichartz inequality for the Schr\"{o}dinger equation on the two dimensional spatial space. From the work by Foschi and Hundertmark-Zharnitsky, it is known that Gaussian functions are extremal functions to this linear Strichartz inequality, and the only extremal functions are Gaussians up to the natural symmetry. We provide a new proof to characterization of the extremal functions by studying their Euler-Lagrange equations. It is a joint work with J. Jiang.
