In this series of talks, we discuss recent development in quantum chaos via a new tool called Fractal Uncertainty Principle (FUP). The talks are based on joint work with Semyon Dyatlov.

In quantum chaos, we study semiclassical limit of the quantization of a classical chaotic system. In this talk, we give a brief introduction of the topic of quantum chaos and discuss FUP in the simple setting of open quantum maps. In particular, we focus on open quantum baker\'s maps, which are quantizations of the open baker’s map on the torus and given by a family of subunitary matrices. Using FUP, we obtain quantative spectral gaps improving both the trivial gap and the pressure gap.?
