\n\tI will talk about some results on Bogomolov’s inequality for (logarithmic) Higgs sheaves, flat bundles etc. As application we obtain Miyaoka-Yau inequality for logarithmic surfaces. All the results concern varieties in positive characteristic but they also give algebraic proofs of some deep results in characteristic zero that were obtained by analytic methods.\n<\/p>
