Analysis of data from twin and family studies provides the foundation for studies of disease inheritance. Despite the long history of twin and family data analysis, some fundamental questions remain unanswered. In this talk, we will introduce the statistical issues driven by the Guangzhou Twin Eye Study (GTES). First, we will first give an introduction to a ten years longitudinal twin study project: GTES. Motivated by interesting ophthalmologic twin data, we will present some fundamental issues and statistical modeling strategies in the twin studies. Lastly, we will give a brief description about an ongoing genome-wide association analysis in GTES
