Given a finite group and prime dividing the order of the group, there are two several categories with objects being p-subgroups. Two of them are special interests: fussion systems and linking systems. In this talk, I will discuss the representation theories of these categories over field of characteristic p. At the end I will also outline some ideas of representation of the finite group over interests (even more generally over ring of algebraic integers in a number field). The main motivation comes from algebraic geometry.
