In this talk, starting from the attempt to give a linear bound of automorphisms of a general type variety by a universal constant times its canonical volume, I will talk about a general boundedness theory for log pairs of log general type and its other applications, especially to moduli spaces and ACC of log canonical threshold. I will try to make the talk accessible to general audience.
