Ray-Singer analytic torsion is an analytic counterpart of the classical topological invariant, the Reidemeister torsion. It is a global invariant so usually is difficult to compute. We will describe a recent work joint with Jean-Michel Bismut and Xiaonan Ma on an asymptotic formula for this analytic torsion. Our results generalize the computation of Mueller on closed hyperbolic three manifolds.
