Geometric shape is ubiquitous as physical objects from protein at the micro level to human
at the macro level have their own shape. The shape of an object often manifests its functionality.
Therefore, shape analysis arises in many applications including protein docking in structure biology,
character animating in graphics, and surgical planning in medicine, among others. In this talk, I
will introduce two new geometric tools for shape analysis: Heat Kernel Signature and Fuzzy Geodesics.
Both tools have nice provable properties and their usage are demonstrated in shape matching and
correspondences.
