Most C1 finite elements were constructed in 1960sand early 1970s. Due to the need of studying divergencefree finite elements, the speaker constructed variousC1 finite elements in 2D and 3D, on triangular andrectangular grids.
In addition, in this talk,we will study a construction of a C1 element on 4Dsimplex grids, which demonstrates the techniques in2D and 3D, C1 and C2 element construction.A related interest on divergence-free finite elementswill be discussed.
