Transcription factors play critical functions during a variety of biological
processes. Gene expression profiles measured by microarray experiments
provide the expression levels of tens of thousands genes, however, it
provide very limited information about transcription factor activities. We
devised a new method to infer transcription factor activities from gene
expression files. The method was applied to yeast cell cycle microarray data
to identify cell cycle regulated transcription factors, as well as to beast
cancer expression data to identify transcription factors that were
associated with patient survival.
