The centralizer C(f) of a diffeomorphism f is the subgroup of
diffeomorphisms which commute with f. The element of C(f) may be seen
as being the symetries of the diffeomorphisms. One usually think that
a general object has very few symetry: for a diffeomorphism f the
smallest possible centralizer is the group
generated by f. One says
that the centralizer of f is trivial if C(f)=
. Answering to a question
of Smale, we prove generic diffeomorphisms have trivial centralizer.
