In 1920\\\'s the global theory of the dynamics of holomorphic maps began with the great works of P. Fatou and G. Julia. In 1980\\\'s computer experiments and new mathematical methods rekindled interest in the complex dynamics. Since then, the field has blossomed into an active, fertile area of research. In this talk, I will give a brief introduction to the topic.
