摘要：Log geometry is the natural framework for dealing with degenerations and compactifications, and it has played and will keep playing important roles in many branches of algebraic geometry, arithmetic geometry and complex geometry.
In this short course, after a quick review of commutative unitary monoids, we will first introduce the basic notions log structures, charts, frames, log smooth maps, log \'etale maps and log differentials. Then we will turn to two specific topics log products and log \'etale cohomology.
