School Colloquium——A Contrast between topological and metric properties of foliations

Abstract：In this talk we begin to recall a construction of Katok on a foliation on the unit square such that, each leaf of the foliation intersects a full Lebesgue subset of the square in at most one point.
This amazing nightmare of Fubini's theorem is somehow ubiquitous for some invariant foliations corresponding to partially hyperbolic dynamical systems. We show, how techniques in Dynamical systems may be useful to obtain exotic examples in geometric measure theory.
