School Colloquium——Geometry of observation regions

Abstract: In this talk, we first present several observability inequalities (which correspond to different control problems) in an abstract framework. Then we give geometric characteristics of observation sets for some concrete evolution equations, including the heat equation, the Schrödinger equations and the heat equation with memory. We will see how potentials affect the geometry of the observation sets for the Schrödinger equation and how memory terms influence the geometry of the observation regions. Finally, we report on the ongoing work, which presents an observability inequality with small observations sets measured by log-type Hausdorff content.
This talk is a summary of some collaborative work with others, including S. Huang, M. Wang, Y. Xu, Y. Zhang, ect.
Bio: 汪更生,天津大学应用数学教授,主要研究分布参数系统控制理论尤其是偏微分方程的能控能观性、能稳性和时间最优控制等,特别的,在热方程与薛定谔方程的能观性不等式方面做出重要贡献。现任控制领域顶刊SIAM J. Control and Optimization和数学控制论顶刊ESAIM: Control Optim. Calc. Var.等的编委。
