Abstract: I will start slowly with an introduction to the sufaces of infinite type and their mapping class groups. Then I will talk about some recent progress on calculating the homology of these mapping class groups. In particular, I will discuss how one can calculate the homology of mapping class groups of some well-know surfaces, including disk minus Cantor set. This is based on joint works with Martin Palmer.
